Dry Eye Disease
Dry eye disease occurs when the eye is unable to produce enough tears, or when the tears produced evaporate quickly. There are 2 types of dry eye that can occur: aqueous tear-deficient and evaporative.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma, the second leading cause of blindness, is an eye disease where the optic nerve is progressively damaged. This damage can lead to permanent peripheral vision loss.
Hypertensive Retinopathy
Uncontrolled high blood pressure can affect your eyesight and lead to Hypertensive Retinopathy. Hypertension causes damage to the blood vessels in the retina and it can be serious if the blood pressure is not treated.
Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration is a disease that causes the central vision; which we require for reading, writing, and driving; to become blurry. It can severely impair an individual’s vision by deteriorating their eye’s retina.
Retinal Detachment
Retinal detachment occurs when the retina peels away from the blood vessel. This could be a result a retinal hole or tear, and often occurs without a warning.
Spots and Floaters
Ever notice those tiny specks, flecks, spots, etc. that seem to drift around aimlessly when you open your eyes? Even though they’re particularly harmless, extreme cases of spots and floaters can cause harm to your vision.
Strabismus
Strabismus, also known as ‘cross-eyed,’ is a condition where the eyes do not align so one of the eyes looks straight at the object and the other eye looks either inward, outward, upward or downward.
Styes
A stye, also known as a hordeolum, is a condition where the oil ducts along the eyelids gets clogged and infected. This infection is caused by a common bacteria found in our hair and skin, mainly Staphylococcus.
