Children’s Vision

Children’s eyes and vision tend to change more quickly at a young age. In children, the eyes are still developing, and even minor problems can interfere with learning. Children should have their first eye exam at about six to twelve months of age to identify any vision issues, such as a lazy eye or eye turn, which may require early intervention.

At three years of age, children are able to answer simple questions that can help the doctor uncover eye health issues, if present. Annual eye exams are recommended for each child from age 3 and older.
